About Me!!

I lead a simple life!!

Liverpool, England is where I was born and raised, and my studies to Grade 12 were at the Convent of Mercy High School, Broughton Hall.  This was (and still is) a very well-respected institute of learning, where the Sisters of Mercy tried to keep us in line!!  I loved school, and my memories are vivid and thought of very fondly!

During the last year of school, I trained in Pitman Shorthand, Typing and various Commercial courses, and while I enjoyed these studies, not for a moment did I think they would leave such an indelible mark on my life!!  They led me to my initial employment as a junior shorthand typist, and eventually my career extended to major secretarial and administrative assistant roles.

I have held secretarial and administrative posts for a number of prestigious employers in Toronto and Vancouver.  In the late ‘70s to early ‘80s, I worked as an Executive Secretary with The Bank of Nova Scotia at its Regional Office in Vancouver and later at its Cloverdale branch.

Due to illness I left the secretarial mode and for three years worked in direct sales as a Mary Kay beauty consultant.  Following this, the opportunity came for me to revert to my secretarial way of life, which led me to begin my own business.  In September 1986 the City of New Westminster issued the first Business Licence to Omega Secretarial Services, a home-based business that has developed over the years.

When I am not involved with Omega, I am a member of the Women's Prayer Group at St. Michael the Archangel close by in Burnaby.  I am also a lector at St. Michael's and the Slovak community church of St. Cyril and Methodius right next door in New Westminster!

In March, 1999, I became a member of Tillicum Toastmasters and later took part in a variety of executive roles.  In June, 2005. I concluded a two-year term as Division J Governor, and in 2006 accepted the role of Chair of the Fall Conference, 2006, which was held at the beautiful Hilton Hotel in MetroTown.  On October 15, 2007, I achieved the Distinguished Toastmaster Award (DTM), which is the highest level of achievement in Toastmasters.

In  Thanks so much for visiting and finding out something about me!

Hope we can meet and I can extend Omega’s services to you.

Best wishes,
